Background of the Hospital
The Leprosy Mission Hospital at Naini, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India was established as a home for Leprosy affected in 1876. It is now an integrated medical set-up with associated community health development activities. TLM Naini has a busy OPD exceeding 400 pateints a day- 50% of who are for Dermatology, 30% for leprosy and its complications and the rest are Medical, Surgical and Ophthalmology. These are the specialities available at this hospital. The hospital has 30-150 in-patients, most of whom are here for complications of Leprosy- Plantar wounds and complicated ulcers, correction of deformities, Leprosy reactions, Neuritis and General Medical problems. There are also some ophthalmic, Medical and General Surgical cases admitted.
Accommodation:
Provided in the hospital campus, partly furnished 2BHK Doctor's Quarters. Free Wi-fi is availble, Electricity back-up, walled campus with security. Mess facilties are available.
WORK HOURS:
are 8am-5:30pm or till OPD/ Ward work is completed. Saturdays are half days, with 2 Saturdays off in a month. Sundays are holidays (except when on duty); apart from National Holidays, 12 days Casual and 30 days Annual Leave
RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPD is busy and exclusively on a computerized HMS. Senior doctors are available for consulting on difficult cases. More than 90% of the patients are of rural background, lower soci-economic status with poor literacy levels. They are from Eastern UP, Northern MP and adjacent districts of Bihar. More than 90% of the 150 in-patients are admitted on average for 30-35 days for Medical or Surgical complications of leprosy (Diabetes with Ulcers/ Steroids, Septicaemia, Lepra Reactions, Anaemia; Ulcers, Tendon Transfer Surgery, Cataract Surgery, Physiotherapy etc) or ophthalmic, general medical and surgical ailments.
